At my age, I feel like I'm DONE with het romances. I've seen all the tropes, all the shoehorned in love interests, all the Mary and Gary Stu's a billion times. It's so boring and tired. However...same sex romance? Whoa, color me interested. Because it's not as tied in to traditional gender roles (blech), it comes across as much more interesting, and the dynamics feel fresh and new. Of course, this means jerks in my life accuse me of 'being all about the gays'.
