I think trying to insist that any long-dead person would agree with you and approve of your preferences about anything is pretty weak. It's trying to use their authority to try to give weight to your position, but you're just using them like a puppet because they're not actually here to speak for themselves. Even if there's every chance they would agree and approve, you don't actually know exactly what they would think (assuming they didn't leave some extremely specific writing on the subject). I wouldn't want to be used like a puppet that way.
