What genres or topics are you sick of in fiction?

Post-apocalypse and generally grim, dark futures.

Fiction where the "heroes" are only slightly better than the villains and there really isn't anyone to root for.

Retelling/reworking of legends/fairy tales/etc. that turn the villain into the hero. Making the villain sympathetic is one thing. But completely changing who they are and destroying other characters in the process? I'm really over that.

Retelling of myths that remove the magical elements/gods and goddesses/things like that. The fun for me in myths is the mystical elements that make them like fantasy. Also, invariably they just don't end up being very good most of the time.

love Δ
an evil guy was let off the hook by MCs only to make trouble later, tho it's more of a plot device, but it's so predictable, come on!
Grimm dark fantasy with killer or thief MCs.
YA books "aimed at adults" according to reviews which is rubbish.
An Emperor/King/the richest man alive love interest. Boring.

Related, I really love it when an evil guy was let off the hook by the MCs only to come to their rescue later.

What are the recently ended TV series that didn't disappoint you? Personally I'm drawing a blank.

Hard-boiled type detective (or other important professional) who is somehow the only person able to do their job despite being completely insufferable and addicted to drinking/gambling/drugs. That's not how life works. That's not how jobs work. It's competitive. There are ten people behind you at all times who can do your job just as well.

Technology is evil being the entire plot. We got the point like a decade ago and people are still making the same movie or black mirror episode. Blah.

Already sick of christmas movies and it's only November. Please no.

I'm also tired of detectives who are brilliant at their jobs but ALL their other relationships are highly dysfunctional dumpster fires.

Exactly how many variations on "abrasive detective solves crimes in [city] while suffering from [mental illness] due to [trauma]" do we need?

Bad ends. I'm perfectly fine with all kinds of grim, awful, harrowing, sad stuff going down during the course of the story, but I'm getting really, really tired of it all culminating in "everything sucks and that's it, get over it, the end." Realistic, sure, maybe, but like... idk. My depression's bad enough, I want to see some of my favorites manage to get out in one piece and be happy in the end.

The super-sad, weak, totally dependent and 'terrified' sub who can't do anything at all without orders/help.

In love and totally oblivious that they're feelings are returned while all their friends mock and make fun without actually helping (every fucking modern au steve/bucky fic ever).
