there's nothing wrong with wanting positive feedback or attention for your fics/art/whatever, but i really do encourage people not to put so much of their self-worth into how much feedback they receive. not because you're not deserving of it, but because if for whatever reason your fanwork doesn't get the attention you wanted you don't fall into a pit of thinking you aren't good enough.

people not engaging with your stuff doesn't inherently mean you're bad or what you made is terrible, because tbh what gets popular/notice in fandoms is so god damn random.

it's why i think having a small circle of supporters is more fun than hoping for fandom-wide accolades. so long as i make a few people happy and who like what i've done that's enough for me to keep going.
