What are your irrational fears?

The weirder the better.

I hate ants. When we have ants in the house, I have to get someone else in the family to deal with it. If I have to touch something with ants on it, I start to feel prickly and I'm scared I have ants on me, and it's just generally very unpleasant.

SA - also, these are just normal black ants, they aren't going to bite me or anything, they can't hurt me, I just super fucking hate them and I want them to stop coming in my house forever thanks bye

I'm with you. Ants are scary. I stepped on a red ants nest as a kid, and I've been scared of ants ever since.

I agree. Ants are the worst, we had them for most of the summer this year, and I was freaking out the whole time.

there's a type of hand dryer in some public bathrooms that has the word "blade" in its name. That plus its appearance makes it look like it's going to cut somebody's hands off and I always dry my hands on my pants if there's one in whatever bathroom I'm using.

Apparently they're very germy so that's probably a good call.

Planes, but my biggest fear isn't crashing. My biggest fear is that the plane is going to flip. Because of my vertigo, I actually have trouble telling how much the plane really is turning, and when that is combined with my height phobia, it is a not good combination. So yes, the idea of a plane upside down in the sky is more terrifying to me than the idea of it crashing on the ground.

I worry that I'll accidentally swallow my own tongue and choke to death.

That used to be a phobia of mine, along with the thought that if I didn't chew my food to a complete liquid I would choke on some of it and die. This was when I was a kid. Ended up anorexic at one point because I was afraid to eat.

If I’m walking past a fence with spikes, I’m scared I’m going to trip and get impaled in the eye by one of the spikes.

Mine is the railing giving way. I never lean against them like other people do.

This is me too. Hits my height phobia. Anything high where I can look down. If I can't see down I'm fine. But if I can look down, I get dizzy and freak out. Doesn't help that I also have vertigo anyway. That combined with my height phobia makes for abject terror in certain situations.

Same, it never used to bother me, but last year I went on a cruise for vacation and I couldn't help being afraid of going near the railing on deck. I kept imagining me falling overboard and the ship just kept sailing without me.

Ever since I can remember, I've been scared of falling over the railing at a multi-level shopping mall, so I get this completely.

Not very weird, but I've always been terrified of storms. I'm not even sure what it is about them that scares me so bad, but they always have.

I'm scared of lightning to what I think might be an irrational level. I freak out if I'm even out in my car when it is lightning. And I certainly can barely handle actually getting out of my car. Even if the lightning isn't actually nearby. I'm always convinced I'm going to be struck.

I’m always frightened of helicopters overhead, especially police ones, and especially at night. The worst illegal stuff I’ve ever done is bootleg a couple musicals, and I’m not actually scared of being arrested or shot or whatever. I’m just afraid of helicopters.

There's a rock that sticks out from a big rock formation around here and when I look at it I keep thinking it's going to fall off the formation and fall down the hill while I am looking at it. Even though it's stood there during a pretty big earthquake so I really doubt it's precariously balanced up there, and I'm not standing where it would hit anyway.

That if I stick my hand down the garbage disposal to pull something out when it's turned off, something's gonna trip the electricity and turn it on. EVERY TIME.

I'm afraid of babies.

Not quite the complete panic freak out like I used to get probably because I haven't been exposed to a baby at close range for a fair number of years but they scare me more than clowns. If I'm shopping and someone pushes a cart or stroller with an infant in it near me I do my best not to look at it and if it makes noise I'm in the next aisle instantly.

Hey, me too. Babies are my fears of vomit, shrill noises and grabby grubby hands all wrapped into ont bundle of nastiness, plus their parents badgering you into catering to all their needs.
