Why oh why

do my fleece blankets stay nice and plush and fleecy, but the soft, fleecy inside of my sweatshirts/hoodies get all pilled and rough and un-soft?

What's your question for the universe?

The answer is that clothing is made from fabric that's designed to fail.

It's actually rather remarkable how much work they put into making shit fabric for the garment industry.

My question for the universe is why do human beings think they gain anything by forcing or shaming others into doing as they wish? All they gain is silent resentment. Very ineffective way to persuade.

So my computer has been at the Apple center for the past week to replace the battery. When I originally took it to the store, the guy told me that he was sure it wasn't a power cord issue and that they just needed to take the computer itself in and I could take the cord home.

Of course, I get it home today, and the computer is still not charging. Meaning there is also a power cord issue. Which could have been discovered if they'd taken the power cord in. Now I'm going to have to waste another day going down there. I'm not sure when given that I'm booked Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and my surgery is Thursday. Probably going to have to send my dad.

I'm just really pissed off at Apple right now. I didn't need this.

I recently lost a piece of gear that I need for my hobby and it hit me hard, both because of the sentimental value of the object and because I can't do my hobby the same way. Until I can get a replacement (which is not easy), I do something adjacent that's still fun but it's not the same.

There are two women who basically replaced me. I know both of them have wanted to do this for a while, and they're excited for the opportunity. I try to be happy for them instead of bursting with jealousy. It's easy for one of the women, who is visibly enthusiastic, and has asked me for tips and help. The other woman though is a generally negative, pessimistic person; by default, she exudes an aura of annoyance, like she had a long, shitty day already and just wants to get it over with. And even though I know she's happy to get do this, when I see her setting up her gear with her typical air of long suffering, I just want to shake her until she either admits that this is fun, or hands me her gear and fucks off. I cannot stand seeing her doing what I had to give up and act like it's this huge imposition.

Tripped up the stairs in a shop yesterday, almost giving the shop assistant a heart attack, and faceplanted pretty hard. At the time I was like, 'No, no, I'm fine, don't worry, it's fine', but like five minutes later my leg started to hurt quite a lot, and I couldn't get all my shopping done :c
And my leg still hurts today, and it's honestly irritating - I didn't actually *hit* my leg or anything! Why does it hurt! >:(

So, like, in about February I think? I suggested to my parents that my brother might like a Switch for his next birthday, and we could all pool money and buy him one together. To make sure it was something he actually wanted, we asked his wife to scope out his level of interest in getting one - he'd expressed interest before, but we wanted to double check before forking over $400+.
She got back to us and said he didn't want one, and wasn't really interested in any consoles. Okay, we got him other stuff.

But I was just looking at one of his online wishlists for Christmas, and he has a Switch and like five games for the Switch on there*! What the fuck!
And it's like, did she lie? If yes, why? Did *he* lie? If yes, *fucking why*? His birthday was coming up, a question like 'Hey do you want a Switch' is not so complex anyone should feel the need to dissemble!
The most reasonable explanation I can think of is he was worried that *she* was going to buy him a Switch, and their finances aren't really solid enough to justify a purchase like that, so he made like he didn't want one. But then he put it on his wishlist, which she can see, so I'm???

*which he put there *after* his birthday, it's not that I'm a total dumbass

I still don't know how I'm going to get my bike fixed. Usually I've been walking to work, which takes a long time and seems even longer because all I can think about is what a loser I am - afraid to ever drive again, couldn't afford a car anyway, and can't even manage to maintain a bike. I'm fifty-two years old and this is what my life has become. (At least I have a good job. For that I'm thankful.)

I hate ants. When we have ants in the house, I have to get someone else in the family to deal with it. If I have to touch something with ants on it, I start to feel prickly and I'm scared I have ants on me, and it's just generally very unpleasant.

there's a type of hand dryer in some public bathrooms that has the word "blade" in its name. That plus its appearance makes it look like it's going to cut somebody's hands off and I always dry my hands on my pants if there's one in whatever bathroom I'm using.

Planes, but my biggest fear isn't crashing. My biggest fear is that the plane is going to flip. Because of my vertigo, I actually have trouble telling how much the plane really is turning, and when that is combined with my height phobia, it is a not good combination. So yes, the idea of a plane upside down in the sky is more terrifying to me than the idea of it crashing on the ground.

I’m always frightened of helicopters overhead, especially police ones, and especially at night. The worst illegal stuff I’ve ever done is bootleg a couple musicals, and I’m not actually scared of being arrested or shot or whatever. I’m just afraid of helicopters.

There's a rock that sticks out from a big rock formation around here and when I look at it I keep thinking it's going to fall off the formation and fall down the hill while I am looking at it. Even though it's stood there during a pretty big earthquake so I really doubt it's precariously balanced up there, and I'm not standing where it would hit anyway.

I'm afraid of babies.

Not quite the complete panic freak out like I used to get probably because I haven't been exposed to a baby at close range for a fair number of years but they scare me more than clowns. If I'm shopping and someone pushes a cart or stroller with an infant in it near me I do my best not to look at it and if it makes noise I'm in the next aisle instantly.
