That's a completely legitimate fear tbh. If the Democrats put up Biden, we're doomed. It's gonna be another shitshow like putting up Hillary-- not because she was objectively the bad choice, but because there had been so much fire under the Bernie campaign that it felt to a lot of younger people like betrayal. Most either didn't vote or spite-voted for Trump. Same damn thing's gonna happen this time around, I'm almost sure of it.

Luckily for the rest of the world, Trump has spent his entire time in office destabilizing the US government at all levels and alienating its allies, so if Trump does get re-elected out of spite and the US continues its death-spiral, the collateral damage should be limited to North America.

Man, you really, really, really, really, really haven't paid attention to Syria and the Kurds. have you?

I think you need to disconnect from FB and Twitter. A lot of people do, in fact. At least for the next year.

We're not doomed. This is ridiculous. Why is it so difficult for people to think probabilisticly and rationally about this? Trump does not have magical powers, OK? This is an election that he could either win or lose. Even with Biden, we're not doomed - I think Biden would be a slight favorite over Trump. Trump is very unpopular for a president, he barely won in 2016, and elections since then generally haven't gone well for the Republican Party.

Of course that doesn't mean he's guaranteed to lose either. But all this doom stuff, I don't get it. It's uncertain. That's how uncertainty works.

Thank you.

(Though I'm honestly of the opinion that even if he wins, it's gonna suck so much more for him than it will for the rest of us. While he loses allies every day, women and minorities continue to be voted into office, and more places are turning blue. Like anon above me says, either a win or a loss is not guaranteed. But deciding we're already lost before the primaries are even here won't help keep him out of office.)

Giving him a win and yet a Democratic Senate and House and no way of easily accomplishing much would be pretty sweet.

I will campaign for any swinging genitals that get the nomination. Nobody's worse than Trump and Pence. Biden, if he's the pick, can be a placeholder president until his VP gets better name recognition or someone else gets more visibility. At least he won't piss off every other country we deal with amiably and Ginsburg can finally retire and sleep at night.
