It seems similar to me, giving a child a first name that is a name in its own right, but also contains a part of a their parent's first name. But I guess something like Nadija and Lidija would be a closer example.

That's just the Japanese pronunciation of Bolt, which is a cool name for a teenage ninja hero. It sounds weird for us foreigners, but it's a good name for the intended audience.
