I pirate everything. Actually it's almost time to pay for the books I pirated and finished on my Kindle this year...

If you just want it for reading, check to see if your local library is enrolled with Libby/Overdrive. Works great with Kindle.

I'm fine, thanks. I wanted to know about Kindle Unlimited specifically because I wanted to know how people use it.

I use it and definitely get my money's worth out of it. It helps that I mostly read what I call "brain candy", fun stories that aren't necessarily of the best objective quality. I tend to read mysteries, thrillers, and fantasy.

I use KU to read. It's worth the money the way I do it, because I pay for a month, read as much as I can, and then cancel the next month. Until I feel like doing it again.

Oh, and I read published Austen fanfiction.
