The long and short of it is: he wasn't nice. He was absolutely vulgar and brash, angry at the state of politics in this country right now. It was after Kavanaugh's appointment that he really got the shaft, for tweeting this, among other anti-Trump sentiments:

And people defended his firing, because he wasn't nice. It still boils my blood.

Exactly. I would have understood if he had trashed parts of Star Wars, the actors, George Lucas or Disney itself in any way but... he didn't. He just voiced his opinion about something unrelated in a non-nice way and it's just so chilling.

This. Not only was Wendig absolutely right, but even if he weren't... FFS, they knew who they hired, right? Wendig didn't make a secret of his politics OR his foul language. They knew who they hired, and to fire him for speaking his mind over that was extreme cowardice.

Exactly. If they had an issue with having someone write for them who curses a lot on Twitter, then they shouldn't have hired him in the first place.
