She killed slave owners. All of them had slaves.

For me, it's a matter of consistency. Her wrath was (very understandably) provoked by by the crucifying of the slave children. She answers by crucifying the same amount of masters. Justice served, right? No, not really. Because she didn't bother to find out who was responsible for the crucifixion of the slaves. She ended up crucifying at least one master who spoke out against the crucifixions. It is very, very likely that some of the masters who ordered the crucifixions got away with it. Because she didn't do the due diligence, chances are good she crucified people who had nothing to do with the crucifixions and let some of the ones that did go unpunished.

But it's okay, because they were all slave owners! All slave owners deserve to be crucified. Okay, fair. So why didn't she crucify every master in Meereen? For consistency and justice's sake. Instead, she worked with them, because it was the politic thing to do. So the end result is: justice wasn't served for the crucifixions of the slave children. Dany eventually ended up working with slave owners. And the only thing her crucifixions really accomplished was to sate her fury.

Nayrt

Was it really presented like a good thing that Dany did? It sounds like a lot of moral nuance was lost of that's the case...

IMO it was presented as morally complicated. But a lot of her fans view her as being completely in the right.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 02:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think any of her fans think she's completely in the right, just that she wasn't a 100% horrible monster from day one like the people who hate her love to proclaim. She's complicated, but not evil.

LOL no. Some very passionate fans of hers are adamant that she did nothing wrong in Meereen and will not hear of anyone saying it was a morally gray situation. They're the kind who yell and berate and call people slave apologists for doing so.

Slavery apologists, I mean.

(Anonymous) 2019-11-23 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, if you’re going to cry about slaveowners being crucified...

(Anonymous) 2019-11-24 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's not crying about slaveowners to point out Danny's failures and hypocrisies, and how her form of justice is often arbitrary and inconsistent.
