You're probably going to get flak for being One Of Those Horrible Crazy Simon/Nia Fans Who Ruin Everyone's Fun, but I generally agree that GL, unlike most series, is set up in such a way as to make fanfiction that tries to shoot down the main pairing OOC (although...you could make an argument that any fanfic in any canon that tries to actively invalidate the main pairing, as opposed to writing around it, is OOC).

Even though I don't like to read it/look at it, though, I think it's possible that pre-Nia and post-Nia Simon/someone-else fanworks could be made to be IC. I just...think it's more difficult than usual.

Despite my love for the pairing, though, I don't think it's because the pairing is Just That Speshul And Perfect And No One Can Ever Break It Up Ever!!!, I think it's because GL goes to extra effort to show how important the main pairing is to the characters and story.

Of course, on a personal level...I don't have a lot of 'pure OTPs' where I can't stand to see either character paired up with someone else, but Simon/Nia is one of the few. But that's just my reaction.

101. You need to be the appropriate race to play a character in a movie. You don't to dress up as them for Halloween.

Not secret!4. I agree that he's awesome, but he's so not anyone's perfect man. He spent pretty much the entire season setting himself up as Whatever Role And Personality He Felt Other People Needed, without ever really opening up to anyone other than someone he saw as a little sister figure, and her only a little. Plus, I'm pretty sure he had a deathwish.

He's still my favorite character in 00, though.

Doing it wrong!2. Things like that aren't about "strong female characters" or "woman power," though. They're about, "Ha ha, female anger is so cute and harmless that it's endearing! A woman raining blows on a man is cute, because there's no way she could actually hurt him!" This is also where some of the moe appeal of the tsundere character type comes from.

Which sucks for everyone, men and women.

Unfortunately, try telling my friends that. My best friend is chinese.

I am Asian and female and that didn't stop me from being Linus one Halloween.

If your friend, who is Chinese, is offended because you want to play a character that you love, then they need to grow up and learn to become less reactionary and offended. You love the character. She should support your desire to dress up as her for Halloween. That's what a best friend does.

Well I don't consider myself a RABID-FAN. People are free to write whatever they want, I just don't really like reading that kind of fanfiction. I even specified in my secret I never wanted them to change or anything.

Regardless, I'm now ashamed of having posted the secret because there's not enough GL fanfiction to warrant such a statement.
