It's odd that Transmet feels so utopian now. The villains are competent and the good guys win. How unrealistic is that?

Yeah. A lot of media that I consumed to deal with the Bush era feels that way now. So...hopeful. Like we had no idea how absolutely bad things could get.

I remember especially hating the film version of V for Vendetta for its implication that The People would rise up if they found out the government had done something bad.

Yeah. The "sooner or later, someone will do something stupid." speech. Like no, within five minutes those people would have come up with a reason why the Fingermen were totally justified in shooting that little girl.
