The only way to not be spoiled is to have hand me downs? okay.

It's clearly a rhetorical phrase

My family is rich and I still had hand-me-downs. It was just practical.

If your family cared about practicality, then you weren't that rich.

There's a difference between "not poor"/comfortable and "stereotype villain rich".

Honestly this is accurate. My dad knows a lot of wealthy people through his job and most of them you would never know were millionaires. They dress and manage their wealth very frugally, it's how they keep their money.
Being a criminal and fraudulent is not how most people make and keep money, there's not enough opportunity or leeway to actually get away with that shit.

I don't think "millionaires" count here. Tons of older people near retirement age are millionaires if you count in pensions, retirement savings, the paid off house they own, and stuff like that. Just from saving up and working for a long time.

Billionaires are a whole other story. No such thing as an ethical billionaire. Even if those millionaires worked for another 1000 years, they wouldn't be a billionaire.
