I'm not big into it so I don't know all their names well

innocent virgins: Sansa in the early seasons, cersei's daughter

villainous whores: Cersei, Dany in the last season, the red witch lady whose name escapes me, shae who was also fucking tywin

ugly but capable: Brienne, Arya, Osha, Yara (I don't find any of them ugly but it's implied by the other usually male characters that they're not good looking)

That's all very YMMV... And op was talking specifically about lit. Their book counterparts really don't fit in those stereotypes.

Not Arya. She's not considered as classically beautiful and perfect as Sansa, but she's often compared with Ned's sister (her aunt), who was considered very beautiful.

There's the implication that she's just young, and a tomboy, and that she'll grow into her self.

And there's no implication at all that Asha (Yara...) isn't pretty.

I don't recall Osha ever being described as ugly, either? Maybe I missed something somewhere, but the implication I got was always that she didn't care much about her appearance, not that she was actually unattractive. The only real description I remember about her was that she had a stern face, but that doesn't mean ugly.

What part of Dany is exactly a whore though? And she's not (yet) villainous in the books, nor is she a Mary sue. And all of Sansa deconstructs this innocent maiden archetype. And Catelyn is a major character that fits none of those character types
