(Anonymous) 2019-12-14 01:03 am (UTC)(link)I'm not talking only about duel monsters but all of the yugioh series. Having different names makes tagging tings and conversations difficult(you have to basically learns twice the number of names and with 6 series there are hundreds of characters) and it's also a symbol of division in the fandom (the sub vs dub debate). I personally watch the sub since 5ds but I never hated the dub or the people that watch the dub, I actually find the dub hilarious and I love to watch random dub scenes on yutube

(Anonymous) 2019-12-14 11:45 am (UTC)(link)I totally get what you're talking about though. I've been in fandoms before (-cough/Persona/hack-) where the ridiculous amount of names made the fandom very hard to navigate.
The characters of Yu-Gi-Oh itself are complicated enough. I know I've been holding back a number of rants given the fact that most of the characters harbour multiple personalities, and unless you're in the loop it might as well be piglatin.
