I could have been worse! I grew up with them so I don't mind them at all. Aside from the first Digimon, it't the only show I'll use the original/dub names interchangeably.

I get where you're coming from. I largely agree with you. I also think there's a tricky line here where golden-age nostalgia and fond memories which elide the actual reality of what past fandom was like - that stuff often fuels shitty attitudes towards contemporary fandom, and it's sometimes difficult to distinguish those things.

Ngl I hated Chuck (well, not "hated" but I felt for him the way the show made you want to feel as it's from Jimmy's POV) but then this happened and I thought that was a pretty shitty end for ultimately (regardless of my reaction) a great character played really well by the actor. I don't really blame Chuck for his views or actions if I try to see it from the not-Jimmy POV, and tbh the show is making me not really like Jimmy any more as he increasingly transitions to Saul. Which is a weird place to be when BB had Saul as such a fan favourite.

The real star of BCS for me is Mike anyway. I can't remember if it was the last season or the one before where I could not give much of a shit about the Jimmy scenes and just wanted more of Mike.

I mean, on the one hand it is horrifying and gory, yes, and worse for happening to a twelve-year-old. On the other, I always thought it pretty much made thematic sense, given what the Knife is and what it does. A weapon that can cut anything and causes the slow destruction of worlds can only be wielded by someone who's proven they can pay a cost. The hand that wields it pays for the wielding. I just read the Mark as basically an early warning of that.
