I do agree, but

I have to say I sort of understand the impulse behind the AO3 comment, if not the follow-through. Because in my head, when I read something like that, I'm thinking, "There are GeoCities archives I liked better and there was flashing images and eye-bleeding neon texts and backgrounds on some of those." But I do understand everybody has different experiences and different preferences and the point when you discovered something really does matter, so I wouldn't comment that on that type of secret.

Hahaha! Seconding this so hard.

Also, I think there's a difference between someone posting about their love for FF.net on their tumblr, say, and someone posting about it here on FS. FS is all about discussion and people being free to share differing opinions. I do think that if someone here says they prefer FF.net to AO3, replying with, "FF.net is a shitheap and you have garbage opinions" would be really rude. But responding with, "Couldn't disagree more. It just seems so hard to navigate, and the fic quality, on average, seems so much lower to me," or something in that vein, is perfectly fair.

ayrt

Right?
