I don't know the characters in question so I can't comment on the messed upness, but as a Hannibal/Will shipper, from what I've seen of the Hannigram fandom is that it's very much acknowledged that the ship/show is 15 levels of fucked up and not 'HEA' or anything that anyone should aspire to in a relationship.

The irony is that, age gap aside, they actually have a very healthy emotional dynamic going on in terms of being supportive of each other and respecting each other. The only thing that potentially makes it "messed up" is the age thing.

hannibal literally manipulates and gaslights will down to his level and makes him complicit in a bunch of murders. they have a very compelling dynamic but it's not healthy at all, and trying to frame it as such is weird as fuck.
