This is weird to m. I have large breasts, but I don't have any issues watching female characters with small chests.

Frankly, part of this may be that small(ish) breasts are normative in the film industry. Everyone's just so skinny that hardly anyone is bigger than medium/small in the chest department. At least for the last 2 - 3 decades. Plus maybe there's some prejudicial casting, as well. I have no idea if thin women who are stacked struggle to get cast in Hollywood these days, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did (which is very shitty and it should go without saying that I don't support that at all).

I'm sure if nineteen out of twenty female characters were 36H cups, I have no reaction to it whatsoever, and it would be the flat characters that would stand out to me. *shrugs*

I mean...at least you realize it's irrational. But jeez, what the fuck.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I do not get this at all? Like do you have the same problem with long hair vs. short hair, or any guy for that matter? I get if you mean those weird hentai boobs, that are bigger than their fucking bodies, but otherwise not so much.
Big boobs are a pretty common real life encounter, and while (mostly anime) shows tend to lead towards a certain air-headed personality type, more often than not (nowadays) these characters aren't just all breasts and no brain.

OP - Large-breasted characters can be really great, no different than small-breasted characters. I think it's more about me trying to imagine existing in a body that was that well endowed and just completely drawing a blank.

I acknowledged in my secret that it's irrational. It's still how I feel, and that's ok.

ayrt

Sorry, I didn't mean to put you out or anything! I was mainly just curious if you meant it as some sort of archetype, or whatnot! I get not being able to relate to characters, especially when certain traits (physical, or otherwise) aren't similar to what I'm familiar with. It's hard to wrap your head around something you have no experience with, for sure.

It's a good secret, tbh. Those headscratching thoughts make some of the best!

Most of us don't have a choice in our breast size. Having larger or smaller breasts is just the luck of genetics. Sorry but your secret really rubs me the wrong way. It's like of like saying I don't like this character because they have different eyes or nose than I do so I can't relate to them at all.

Maybe I am just too sensitive because everyone woman I know including myself has been teased about her breast size sometime in her life.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
You're absolutely being too sensitive. OP didn't say a single word about not liking characters with large breasts. OP hadn't made a single judgment about breast size, period. All they said was that they can't relate.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Foreign and unfathomable" doesn't exactly sound positive.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
It's very, very, very clear from the context that OP uses those terms strictly as it applies to them. Large breasts aren't "foreign and unfathomable", period. They're "foreign and unfathomable" to the OP.

OP

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. Thank you.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
No, it bothers me, too. Breast size has absolutely no bearing on anything and yet we're treated so differently. It sucks.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I sympathize, but both you and ayrt are conflating the society's general shitty attitude re: breast sizes and OP's personal inability to relate to large breasts.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
OP - MTE. Two of my best friends have enormous breasts. Over the years we've talked at length about their struggles with finding clothes that fit and finding clothes that don't get them more attention than they want, and back pain, and I drove one of them home after she got her breast reduction, and I was the one she showed first when she got a nipple piercing to celebrate getting the feeling back in her nipples after her reduction. We also talked at length about my small breasts back when I used to be insecure about them as a teen and we'd say the old stereotypical "God, I wish I could just have some of yours and then we'd both be happy."

This secret is entirely about my inability to fathom the idea of having large breasts of my own. I just can't. Like, I actually wear bras with zero padding because I feel most "myself" when my breasts are at their smallest and most compact.

And for some reason, when I see a character like, say, Joan from Mad Men, I just can't imagine existing in her body? It's a great body, but it is so completely different from my own.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
So...is existing in a character's body the only way you can relate to them, though? I'm so confused.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. But being able to relate to how I imagine a character experiences their physicality is definitely a plus. And for some reason large breasts are a particular point of difference for me.

I'm so confused.

You don't have to understand it. It's not rational; it's just how I feel.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-22 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
This doesn't NOT make sense. We've all had smaller chests after all, growing up, but only some people eventually have large breasts.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
I can understand this sentiment. Though in my case it's usually the aforementioned "Hollywood/Hentai Effect" that the majority of large breasts in various media have to be insanely perky for their size and not "jiggle" right. So it just feels alien to watch since my own H-cups are very different.

Thusly when I have a choice, like playing a game or something, I tend to roll or aim for characters that have, like, a B-cup or below.
