Most of us don't have a choice in our breast size. Having larger or smaller breasts is just the luck of genetics. Sorry but your secret really rubs me the wrong way. It's like of like saying I don't like this character because they have different eyes or nose than I do so I can't relate to them at all.

Maybe I am just too sensitive because everyone woman I know including myself has been teased about her breast size sometime in her life.

You're absolutely being too sensitive. OP didn't say a single word about not liking characters with large breasts. OP hadn't made a single judgment about breast size, period. All they said was that they can't relate.

"Foreign and unfathomable" doesn't exactly sound positive.

It's very, very, very clear from the context that OP uses those terms strictly as it applies to them. Large breasts aren't "foreign and unfathomable", period. They're "foreign and unfathomable" to the OP.

OP

Precisely. Thank you.

No, it bothers me, too. Breast size has absolutely no bearing on anything and yet we're treated so differently. It sucks.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
I sympathize, but both you and ayrt are conflating the society's general shitty attitude re: breast sizes and OP's personal inability to relate to large breasts.

OP - MTE. Two of my best friends have enormous breasts. Over the years we've talked at length about their struggles with finding clothes that fit and finding clothes that don't get them more attention than they want, and back pain, and I drove one of them home after she got her breast reduction, and I was the one she showed first when she got a nipple piercing to celebrate getting the feeling back in her nipples after her reduction. We also talked at length about my small breasts back when I used to be insecure about them as a teen and we'd say the old stereotypical "God, I wish I could just have some of yours and then we'd both be happy."

This secret is entirely about my inability to fathom the idea of having large breasts of my own. I just can't. Like, I actually wear bras with zero padding because I feel most "myself" when my breasts are at their smallest and most compact.

And for some reason, when I see a character like, say, Joan from Mad Men, I just can't imagine existing in her body? It's a great body, but it is so completely different from my own.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
So...is existing in a character's body the only way you can relate to them, though? I'm so confused.

(Anonymous) 2019-12-21 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. But being able to relate to how I imagine a character experiences their physicality is definitely a plus. And for some reason large breasts are a particular point of difference for me.

I'm so confused.

You don't have to understand it. It's not rational; it's just how I feel.

This doesn't NOT make sense. We've all had smaller chests after all, growing up, but only some people eventually have large breasts.
