That bottom picture and "cocky screw-up" really reminded me of Eric (The Cavalier) from the Dungeons and Dragons animated show, so I looked it up and the Toei did them both, which is interesting. But I will admit that while Eric was annoying at times, he could be weirdly endearing.

Don't ever go back and watch it or, if you do, be selective because when I went back, though Eric was okay, Uni and Bobby (and even Presto, a little) were so irritating to me.

I couldn't even get through episode 1 of Voltron because it was so boring, but from the clips I've seen of it Lance is really fucking annoying so I totally get that, OP.

I liked them both okay, didn't care about the ship in any way other than being a bit boggled by it's popularity because they had so little to work with across the show.

But as the show went on I got completely bored and annoyed with Keith, and Lance was fine? Idk, he was mostly just there to make quips and never got anything much beyond that. But then that was basically any character that wasn't Keith or Pidge.

I totally get that, OP - he is a cocky screw-up.

It's just that I got halfway through the first season and started seeing his vulnerabilities and moments of kindness, and that he was struggling with a lot and... fighting the battles with his own sense of self-worth and kind of fell in love with the twerp.

He starts in a particular place and gets character development? Felt very real to me.

Klancers are the reason the VLD fandom has such a bad rep. Screaming about how Klance was queerbaited even though EVERYONE involved in the show said it was never going to happen. Sending death threats to the cast and crew, trying to get Josh Keaton fired because he called them out for saying Sheith was a pedo ship, trying to blackmail Dreamworks into making Klance canon by stealing storyboards, kicking up such a shitstorm after season 7 dropped that season 8 was hastily changed and ended up being an utter mess.

I prefer Sheith anyway.

season 8 was changed. they gave shiro a random husband to make up for the whole adam thing, which they shouldn't have even mentioned bc then no one would have cared, revived ezor and zethrid bc oh shit they can't have more lgbt characters dead. the voice actress is even a completely different person, that's how cobbled together it was.

the rest of that mess went how it was meant to, the showrunners just couldn't fucking plan a story, and if they'd had their way shiro would have been dead after s2. and frankly he might as well have been since his only goddamn purpose was to be keith's damsel to make the boring white boi look good.

out of all the shit that went wrong in the last 2 seasons, the fact that ppl are still stuck on ships the most out of everything is just insane. i'm glad none of you got what you wanted, you all deserved that hideous clusterfuck.

he's half human, but his human-half is white, bc his dad is. i know fandom hopped onto the whole 'clearly keith is asian' thing, but that was never established in the canon ever, and the showrunners never clarified it bc then they'd have had to admit that he was white, and they were getting far too much praise for being 'progressive' at that point.

when they decided that a horribly pointless BYG plot was 100% acceptable bc it was convenient to their ship was when i completely washed my hands of that fandom, they became the vld equivalent of TJL conspiracy nutscases as it was but that was the last straw for me. i'm glad the ship got nuked, i just wish shiro had gotten any story out of it.

I hadn’t even watched VLD when the Adam shit happened (I was that fool who watched it all after it ended), but even I had come across promo for him and Shiro, had heard how heavy they were hyping him up. So when I heard they introduced him just to kill him I commented on tumblr something like “I don’t even go here but that’s fucked up” and has a swarm of Sheith fans in my inbox assuring me that it was ok what happened because the “real” representation was coming. Watching them crash and burn brought me great joy tbh.

I stay mad about Shiro, Lance, and Hunk getting paid dust despite being more interesting than Keith.

i was part of the fandom during the point where the goddamn showrunners hyped up adam's introduction and shiro being gay, so for a solid few months those of us who liked sheith, but were still happy to see he was getting a canon LI had to wade through endless goddamn posts about how shiro having a boyfriend was 'bad rep' how adam was 'clearly abusive' and just so much shitting all over a character we hadn't even MET yet.

only for him to get killed unceremoniously and for the rest of sheith fandom to act like it was the greatest story-line put to screen. that soured me to the ship completely and i was so happy to see their hopes and dreams die in s7+8, they fucking deserved it.

god tell me about it, i LOVED hunk, he was so good and such a neat character and was the best paladin out of the lot of them. the show: lol he likes to eat because he's chubby, GET IT. and poor shiro, that guy got nothing, like it really saddens me when i look back on the show and realise that i didn't know anything about my 2nd fave character... how awful is that? but yanno we had to see keith get a teleporting wolf for some reason.

Agreed. Lance is awful. His "character development" is lukewarm at best. I hate Klance and Allurance especially. (I also loathe Sheith. I don't like Keith either, but I hate Lance the most.)
