For those who've already received gifts, what's something nice you've been given this year?

My sister got me a Patamon plushie and the rest of the family probably found it a bit embarassing how badly I squealed at that.

I got a replacement for a cookbook I lost a couple of years ago, a pair of earrings shaped like knives, a cool hair clip (the sort with a round bit and a stick) that came from a local blacksmith, and a gift voucher to a bookshop I like.

I opened my Reddit Secret Santa gift. I got some nice dark chocolate, spatulas, and unfortunately coffee beans. I don't drink coffee but it is my fault for not mentioning it.

My brother-in-law's mother sent us a nice package of chocolate-covered strawberries. She's really poor, so it was a really sweet gift. Also delicious.

A few months ago, I bought myself a white gold pot leaf ring. I love it. It looks especially nice with a green glitter manicure!

What is your favourite gift that you've made or bought for someone else this year?

I pooled my money with my parents and we got my brother a Switch! I'm really looking forward to his reaction <3

My brother loves classical music, and I got him a concert ticket that he didn't even know was coming.

I made my sister custom Funko pops of her pets (including boxes). I can't wait for her to get them.

I bought a friend a two-person voucher for a local escape room. Funnily enough, she was talking enthusiastically about a new room they've made *just after* I bought the voucher, so I felt very smug~
I'm looking forward to going with her!

No one's opened theirs yet, but I'm proud of having the idea to get a bound reproductio of the newspaper from the day my parents got married.

My dad plays guitar and is an aspiring Tolkien scholar with multiple wizard costumes, so I ordered him a custom-made engraved wooden guitar pick that's made out of African pepperwood (we used to live in Kenya) and has a wizard hat engraved on one side and the Tolkien initial symbol on the other. Unfortunately it hasn't arrived yet, but it should be here on Saturday at the latest. I really hope he likes it!

My mom always goes on and on and on about how she wants weird and unique gifts. One year my sister bought her porcupine quills and they were her fave gift. This year I found her a space fan/heater that's also a crab. It comes up to my knees. It's surprisingly pretty. I've got my fingers crossed that she'll love it--I loved buying it for her!

For stuff I also bought myself— I was born in San Luis Obispo and apparently as a baby I spit up on Mr. Madonna, which is the story my mom told every time she broke her set of four of these out for Christmas breakfast.

https://www.shopmadonnainn.com/goblets

My mom passed away a couple of years ago and I inherited her set, which are the pale pastel-ish versions the inn still uses in their restaurant. But my oldest friend who went with my mom and I once on a road trip when we stopped there, and who was usually over at our house for holiday breakfast because she’s kind of my unofficial foster sister, loves red and black so I got her a red one and a black one. I got myself a blue one and will eventually get a cobalt one if they restock them. Gonna use them tomorrow for sparkling cider with Christmas breakfast (waffles with fruit and whipped cream.)

The same friend recently got into the Zelda games so I also got her a light up Legend of Zelda umbrella.

What is your favorite Christmas media? That includes movies, songs, books, shows, whatever.

The Witness, by Robert Westall - a pregnant cat's point of view of the birth of the baby Jesus - I know it sounds weird, but it's a beautiful picture book, honest

Music, mostly. Anything choral. I like traditional and medieval Christmas music, but I also like more modern songs as well. Honestly I love it all and could listen to Christmas music all year long. Actually, I do. I keep some of them on my ipod.

Watching stupid things for favorite actors

(Anonymous) 2019-12-25 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I saw a trailer for Peter Rabbit 2 today. Never saw the first one and so didn't realize Domhnall Gleason was in it. I'm now going to watch it just for him. Because he's hot and I just like looking at him. I'm not even interested in this stupid movie.

Anyone else watch something you aren't remotely interested in just for that one (hot, skilled, etc.) actor?
