(not OP) I've heard a little about it, but I don't know what his reasoning is for it being racist, except that he was fired by a white guy.
Their reasoning is that Anansi (his character) isn't in the bit of the book they're going to cover in the next season. Doesn't appear at all. Now, they've diverged from the book quite a lot in some ways, so I think they could have worked him in, but wouldn't it feel a little... IDK, tokenistic or something? "All the important characters are here... and Anasi is sitting in the corner there, see?"

Also not OP:

In fairness or Orlando Bloom, it is suspicious that another POC character also got the boot (the one who played the jinn). And as was posted above, he also did some writing for the show in the previous season.

So while I could understand the argument that Anasi wouldn't be in S3, it kind of scans as a bit of a fig leaf when the only people getting laid off are not a whiter shade of pale.

ayrt - oh, the jinn got the boot? :c
Selim and the jinn had the best subplot

Orlando Jones

Also his argument is that he was involved in writing and production, as well as acting. Also his problem has to do with how they told him about the decision, as well as the decision itself.

Tbh the whole American Gods production has been a complete shit show from day 1 which makes it more plausible.

Yeah, Orlando blames the production company for also not letting him get other work by formally releasing him earlier either.

Seems that they're kind of a shitshow, Fremantle.
