In this horrible time between Christmas and New Years?

Horrible? This is my favorite time of year. All the craziness has died down and I can drive around town without fucking idiots jamming up every lane. So peaceful.

Yep, I love it too. Still have time off work, can lie in bed late, catch up on my hobbies (or start new ones), and visit with friends and family at a much more leisurely pace. It's awesome.

I've got a bad migraine today and am hormonal, so not great. I'm out of my med too, and the insurance won't let me refill until tomorrow. And the ice maker is broken, so can't put ice on my head. Can't sleep, so just laying on my computer with ear plugs in surfing Tumblr with the screen turned way down so the light doesn't bother my eyes.

Meh. My parents had guests over yesterday and my dad got very drunk again and then threw a tantrum when my mother told him "please don't try and put stuff in the dishwasher, you can't even stand straight and we're running low on those plates. Just go to bed." He started shouting and accused her of being drunk herself (she wasn't) and then went to bed under protest.

I met him while going upstairs to help my mom clean up- he was barely managing to climb down the stairs so I said something along the lines of "wow you're pretty drunk" which made him flip. He insisted he wasn't drunk and then ended on "Oh hey maybe I'll just die during my operation next week then you're all rid of me and you can be happy". And I'm still so fucking pissed about it - like what the FUCK.

Anyway, my mom and I basically didn't talk to him at all today and neither did he - he's hungover (serves him right) and feeling all self righteous and he's throwing a huge ass pity party for himself for being such a poor oppressed person. And it's fucking awkward because his brother is here (he keeps inviting himself over for three weeks over Christmas and New Year which is another annoyance in itself) so all you hear during meals is the disgusting noisy chewing of my uncle among the stony silence.

And al I wanted to do was tell him how fucking disgusting it is that he's actually insinuating that I'd be happy if he died just because I dared mention that he's drunk. But I chose not to because I had no energy for another fight considering he is convinced he's in the right.

Sorry for the long rant.

I'm sorry, anon. It sounds like your Dad has some serious issues with alcohol consumption, though I'm sure he wouldn't react well to being told this.

Yeah. He doesn't get this drunk very often- usually during parties and events, rarely if ever if it's just any normal day. But when he does, it's pretty bad. At least he doesn't drink and drive.

I'm glad for your sake he doesn't do this often, but it sounds like you'd all be better off if he didn't do it at all.

Yeah. I talked to him today and he apparently doesn't really remember saying what he did and at least he had the decency to be genuinely appalled at himself for doing it and he apologised. He also said he will try to not drink that much in the future. He usually does try but drifts back eventually but at least he knows he did something wrong.

I like the post-Xmas quiet, though i wish i got two weeks off like kids in school do, heh.

It's been very weird, warm weather here, rainy and tornado watches, but tomorrow it's going to be frigid. Which means i feel like i'm coming down with something, NOT fun.

Otherwise - not doing much of anything, it's slow everywhere.

We had a tornado siren last night! It was crazy.

Right? I had all the windows open and the heat off on Xmas day and most of the days after. Sheesh!

We've had rain the past two days, and there was a flash flood warning on the news last night. Glad I haven't had to go out anywhere. Although I'm actually appreciating the overcast sky given my current headache.

Yikes. We're having some rain and warmer temps but thankfully there haven't been any crazy storms (or warnings). Hoping that continues before the temps drop again (praying they stay down because damnit, I need my seasons).

Except for the cold, damp weather, not too bad actually. It's always a relief to me when Christmas is over because by that point I could use a rest from the socializing and work of preparing for the holidays. I don't do anything for NYE, so that's no pressure at all.

My mom's youngest sister just died of complications from a nasty breast cancer. So long for my cousin's birthday tomorrow. My grandmother who suffered a stroke exactly one year ago might not last much longer either.
I'm doing as well as I can considering the circumstances, but my mom isn't and I'm here for her. The next few days are going to be awful...

I'm so sorry for you and your mom and your cousin and grandmother as well. I hope you are able to both be there for her and take care of yourself. My thoughts are with your whole family.

I drank! Doing my birthday dinner. It was delicious. About to go drunk shopping at target.

Right now my job is overstim hell and not to mention my skin is cracked and dry and it stings so bad. Ugh so glad today is my friday

Aside from yesterday’s public transit trip from hell, not so bad. My house, as always, desperately needs cleaning, it’s cold, and I’d rather take a hot shower and go straight to bed than do any of the work prep and chores I should be doing, but I also went on a riverfront walk with my aunt and have managed 8 miles of walking total so far today.

Ehhh.

Right now I'm really regretting sleeping so late today because it's almost 10 PM and I have to be up early for work and I'm not anywhere even close to tired...guess it will be another night where I get very little sleep.

Other than that, the house is a mess as usual (totally sympathize with the other person who said the same thing!) and I need to do laundry and I'm sitting here being lazy instead but I figure if I'm going to be up all night anyway I have time to do it later. :P

I had bad bronchitis a few weeks ago which healed nicely thanks to antibiotics only for me to wake up today with a sore throat AGAIN. Body, can we NOT?!
