It's weird because character archetypes similar to Lapis tend to not get as much hate when they're male. Keith from Voltron kinda comes to mind.

well yes, this is a known phenomenon sadly. give a female character the same negative traits as a male of the same type and watch as she'll be universally reviled and hated while he's adored.

i wish it wasn't as common as it is but i've given up expecting fandom to change in this regard :/

Keith did get tons of hate, especially from Lance and Allura stans.

I was going to say, I saw probably more hate for him than just about any other character in the fandom except for maybe Lance.
