Attractive? He looks like a muppet come to life. I just looked at a bunch of pictures of him to make sure and the only ones in which he looks even mildly attractive to me were a couple in which he had a beard.

In the '70s Charles was considered handsome not only for his looks, but for a certain panache he carried himself with. He was known for being the world's most eligible bachelor for many reasons.

Today it's more youthfulness, perhaps influenced by anime, where the perfection of features is more important.

For one reason: he was the heir to the throne, and rich. It's not like he was a cave troll, but if he wasn't born to wealth and royalty, it's doubtful he'd receive even a small fraction of the attention he got.
