That piece of art seems incredibly stupid and I don't think there's a very good conversation to have about it, even if there are interesting conversations possible about related political topics

Right? Like, it's not even saying anything interesting. It's a wet fart of boring white man political takes.

Isn't the artist Japanese?

nayrt - well... the name he puts on his work is Japanese, buuuuut... it would not be the first time a white dude put his work out under a non-white name. not saying that's what this dude has done, i've got zero proof of anything like that, but it *has* happened.

Obviously. Marvel Comics' Editor in Chief comes to mind.

But apparently this is Ishida Tatsuya https://www.librarything.com/author/ishidatatsuya but it's the only picture I can find of him. Not that I'm trying to dox him or anything. I just expected to see pictures of him at a convention booth or something.

I just think it's kind of ...bad... to call someone with an obviously Japanese name, who's been in the industry for 20 years a "white guy".

Ignore me. It's early in the morning and I'm not a big fan of these kind of discussions in the first place.

"I don't like his opinions, he MUST be white!"
