This reads a lot like someone who got yelled at by a crazy and took it as earnestness and is now parroting the wack rhetoric in order to avoid getting yelled at more to me.

Yeah, same here.

I wonder if it would help if someone told her that the majority of the "people who have the literal physical condition of a blind spot" community uses the phrase in a figurative/metaphorical sense all the time, and most of us are 0% bothered by anyone else using it, either.
