I actually think she does have a more limited range than some of the other actors in the new movies, but that's okay because she's perfect for what Rey is supposed to be. And Star Wars characters are always archetypes. And I'd say Hamill and Fisher had pretty limited range in the OT as well (Hamill improved tremendously as an actor). I'd say Driver is the strongest of the new movie actors, though Oscar Isaac is good if not given as much to work with.

Yeah - saying that Daisy Ridley has a more limited range than Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver is not an insult at all, they're literally two of the best male actors of their generation. And Boyega is incredibly good and charismatic in his own right.

The casting for the sequel series was fucking unimpeachable which just makes it more frustrating how much it ended up getting wasted

Agreed completely. TROS was just...such a not good way to end the sequel. There were scenes I loved so much, but the overall movie was just a travesty for Star Wars.

Seconding all of this completely.

Frankly, I just watched A New Hope for the first time recently and found there to be waaaay more "bad acting" from Hamill and Fisher than we ever got from the new leads. They did both improve though, for sure.

Yup. Star Wars isn't about it's main characters being the best actors ever. Usually there are some great actors mixed in. But Star Wars has always been about myths and archetypes. To act like these are new things in the sequels is kind of ridiculous.
