Late venting, feel free to join in!

Just venting don’t mind me

I left work early today; this is my second bout of cold/flu crud since October, even though I got my flu shot. I napped when I got home, woke up freezing and sweat-soaked, and made a grocery run so I can hide in bed when I (sigh) call in sick tomorrow.

I’m currently wearing sheepskin boots and head to toe wool including three sweaters, and still shivering. ... I live in southern California. It’s 56 degrees fahrenheit out. I don’t have heat and the wiring isn’t up to a space heater, but it’s still probably warmer than that in my house. My fuzzbeast cat is on my lap which is under a blanket pile. I had some tea, which helped, but every time I shed the blankets and cat to go to the bathroom I feel like I hiked to Siberia in winter.

Immune system, I try and feed you fruit and veggies and whole grains and this is the thanks I get? If I switch to the Cookie Monster diet, will you do your job?

I hate my brain. It's not even anything acute wrong with me, just the day by day putting up with having my brain

I get this.

When I see those posts about introverts supposedly feeling sorry for themselves because their friends won't let them be alone with a book I want to scream, because I would LOVE to have some friends who would invite me places. Sitting alone with a book gets old fast when you don't have any choice about it. To me "Oh, my friends keep pressuring me to go places" is like saying "People keep depositing money in my bank account and it's such a pain in the ass."

I very much feel this. I'm definitely an introvert, but I would genuinely like to be invited to do a lot more stuff with friends (which would require me having more friends). Admittedly, I don't always want to go, but once I go, I'm usually glad I went. Plus, when you almost never go out, it's easy to get into a headspace where it feels like going out is threatening in some way. But if you go out more often, it's easy to remember that going out is fun. At least that's how it is for me.

Agreed. When you never go out, it's way too easy to get into a really unhealthy headspace that just feeds into itself. I'm the same way where half the time I'll be thinking "why am I doing this, I really don't want to go," but nine times out of ten I end up having a lot of fun when I actually get there and am glad I went.

The thing you seem to be missing is the fact that there's a huge difference between inviting someone to do something/go somewhere, and pressuring them to do it.

I'm an introvert. I'm happy when my friends invite me somewhere. Sometimes I accept. Sometimes I decline. The point where it becomes irritating is when that friend doesn't accept my "no" and keeps asking and attempting to turn my refusal into a discussion. People not respecting my decisions because they're different from their decisions is incredibly frustrating.

I understand that nobody likes to be pressured and I don’t either, so I definitely should not have used that word. Because the little meme things weren’t about that - more like “My friends just don’t understand me because they expect me to do something besides sit by myself and read.” Except I don’t think they were kidding. How the person made any friends in the first place wasn’t explained.

Lol, A+ comment, anon! I feel your suffering. I hope your appointment goes well, and that you get a chance to nap or something, at some point.
