His story branch was super, super personal. I'm not surprised it's lead to him staying popular.

I'd argue Edelgard's story branch being all about how she was getting back at her abusers was pretty personal, too. She was fucking robbed.

And LBR, most people only care about Dimitri because "hot white man with manpain."

Her extreme facist tendencies and the fact most people play other routes first probably has something to do with it

I have no horse in the Dimitri race, but seems to me a lot of Edelgard stans are willing to overlook all the bad things she does too because she's their waifu.
