Well no, the OP is mostly saying that you shouldn't judge a persons behaviours on their interests. Overstating that all people who are interested in problematic ships implies that only people who have those tastes can be violent/abusive. It runs, in their experience, the risk of then implying that people who's interests are relatively tame can't be violent/abusive.
It can go either way is what they're saying, imo. The person who made the first comment is purposely condemning the OP because they disagrees, and saying that the OP's experience is somehow less because

Nice attempt at trying to differentiate, but OP is essentially doing the same thing. They're saying their experience is the definitive one.
