I don't watch the show, so I have no opinions, but I do want to make it clear that I'm not blaming the female doctor for the falling ratings. I do think, though, that she would've had to cause a ratings gain in order to sway TPTB to casting another female doctor in the next couple of incarnations.

Otherwise, I figure they'll probably just look at it as, "Well, we've checked that box. Moving on!"

I could be wrong. As said, I know nothing about DW specifically. I'm going purely off of how the industry generally seems to work.

Oh sorry I didn't mean to come across as though you were guilty of anything. I should have said the rating haven't gone up much (slightly down iirc) but haven't been the levels seen during David Tennant's run for a while. You didn't seem to be blaming a female Doctor but sadly a lot might!

It's all good. :) I wasn't sure if I was being low-key accused of being one of those people who goes "The ratings fell. Proof they shouldn't have cast a female doctor!" or not. It seemed like that probably wasn't what you were saying, but I wanted to clarify anyway, because yeesh, those people are not my favorite.

I definitely wasn't meaning to low-key accuse you of that, especially as you said you didn't watch the show! Glad it's all good though.

Overall I don't think the director, writers or producers etc know wtf they're doing by this point anyway. I don't think even The Doctor still being played by a white male would solve some of these script issues but it's easier for people to blame the casting decisions than accept they've written something that isn't great I guess?
