Thanks for the spoiler warning. The movie has only been out a couple weeks here.

Personally I am waiting til it gets to the cheap theater. The trailer did not impress me and I would rather pay $3 instead of $12 to see it.

Not that I care all that much, but there are many countries in the world (here, the film is coming out in 3 weeks), something which I guess Americans rediscover only when some Marvel movies open in Europe two days before their state-side openings :)

This is based on a book that was published in the late 1860s.

DA - except as the secret says, they changed the ending, so in fact the movie is different from the book and therefore the secret spoils the movie.

/shrug The description is suitably vague and doesn't cite any specific details. Like I said, it's an old book. I don't think it's reasonable to chastise lack of spoiler warning for an adaptation of classic literature.

You're being obtuse about this. The secret spoils the end of the MOVIE by indicating - in clear enough, if not explicitly specific details - that they changed the ending. It doesn't matter how old or well-known the book is when talking about a relatively brand new adaptation that changes the ending in a way never done before and in a way not supported at all by the original material.

That's not how spoilers work. If they'd said that 'they changed the ending by ----' and specifically stating what was changed then that would be a spoiler.

They did, though? They specifically said the movie "mocked the original ending and suggested Jo/Bhaer isn't real [i.e. that she stayed single]."

Look, this community isn't spoiler-free, so being spoiled is on the previous anon and not the OP of the secret. We can also disagree whether it's a "real" spoiler by your definition. But neither of those points were made in the original comment I replied to and so are just shifting goalposts. The fact remains that dismissing the complaint as "well, it's an old book so talking about the changed ending of the movie is not a spoiler" makes absolutely no sense.
