I mean, the entire royalty thing is largely for show these days, which is why it's developed as a sort of real-life soap opera fandom. Personally I think taking the piss out of it like that is exactly the right thing to have done.

Taking a piss or treating it as entertainment seems like a more reasonable option than getting really emotionally invested in them, that's for sure :)

But still, the personable and likeable faces (and shows like The Crown) make it easier to swallow not only the continued existance of the royals, but also of the entire nobility, which I can't help but see as a negative thing. I mean, isn't it ridiculous that 1/3 of UK's land is in private aristocratic hands in 2020? And that the British nobility is getting richer and richer every year (thanks to, among other things, roboust tax avoidance efforts and taking advantage of EU agricultural subsidies)?
