I like it the usually written way, but I like it that way too. I just like D/s, it doesn't matter to me who tops or bottoms. I've found that in pairings where the dominant character is shorter than the sub character, more often they are written with the sub topping because tall topping short is just as much a common trope as dom topping sub is. In the Kylo/Hux fandom, for example, there are quite a few fics where Hux dominates and orders Kylo to top him.

Here for this i wish i can find it .

Yeah, I find stories that are written with power dynamics more interesting if the dynamics are switched up or more complicated than a simple Top/Bottom vibe.

We all have our jam.

I'd be very into this... though I have one ship I would have written it for once that I can't write it for now, just because my feelings on their sexual dynamic has changed. So I'm not sure what fandom I'd explore that in. But I'm with you on loving the idea of it and wanting to see it somewhere. Well... if I went back to TF2 I guess that would be a lot of fun with Medic and Heavy

(I'm also into 'the Dom is the masochist', which I never see! But like... enjoying playing the dominant role and enjoying the physical sensation of pain play, those things aren't mutually exclusive. Imagine the Dom giving orders, lovingly/reassuringly talking their submissive, who's never been in the role of delivering pain, through what they should do to please them...)

I've seen only one fic with the dom is a masochist thing. It also included the dom is a bottom. It was a Melkor/Sauron thing where Melkor developed some bottoming and masochistic kinks during his time imprisoned in Mandos. But he's still very much in charge and telling Sauron what he wants and how to do it.

100% agree.

I'd also add that I'd love to see more variety in the dom/sub roles. Big, physically imposing dudes can be subs too, js. Basically, every time fandom collectively assigns dom/sub/top/bottom roles to a ship I want to read it reversed xD

Within a scene, a Dom is a top, and a sub is a bottom. Who does what during sex (if it happens at all) is a completely different matter.

At least in fic contexts, top is used to mean the penetrator and bottom to mean the penetrated.

Is this yet another point where it's becoming clear that fandom doesn't really care about what real-life kinksters or LGBTQ people do?

I don't know. I've always heard top/bottom used to refer to the more active or penetrating partner/less active or penetrated partner in both fandom and real life. But I'm not in the BDSM world.

I feel like there's been this thing on f!s of people misunderstanding queer sex, kink, and gender and then throwing wank right back at those of us who live that. And I'm all out of forks.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-17 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I like the dynamic of the bottom being the dominant one, makes everything a lot more interesting.

(Anonymous) 2020-01-17 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
I’m kind of the opposite. I see so many people, here and on my feed, talking about how they like to switch it up and find that so much hotter and more interesting. And I’m just not interested in that at all.

I have had ships where I liked the shorter character as the dom/top.
I have had ships where I liked the more assertive/hostile/bossy/rude character as the sub/bottom.
I have had ships where I liked the physically stronger character as the sub/bottom.

But I’m only interested in the sub as a bottom. At least while they’re subbing. If the pairing also has non-d/s sex where they switch sometimes, that’s not, like, a turn off for me or something.
