This is a very reductive and silly and inflammatory description of the argument, which is funny because part of the reason the argument got so inflamed and toxic was precisely because of people being reductive in the exact same way.

I just remembered that I wanted to specifically call out the idea of saying "leftist fandom does X" as a generalization on this level

Leftist fandom is pretty keen on 'ALL X do Y' if its their opponents though.
