I just wish we could go back to having more variety in fantasy and scifi. Sure, dark and grim has its place, and I like some of it. But I'd like to see more hopeful, heroic stuff too. Just give us variety. Not everything needs to be R rated and/or depressing.

Yeah. I don't even need it to be happy all the time. A show can be a lot of fun and still explore dark themes and have sad episodes. What I'm saying is I miss Buffy and I would watch anything that could emulate the tone successfully.

This is why I like The Expanse. It's a "grimdark" universe, but has plenty of heroic moments too.

nb: I have only watched the first two seasons, so I'm basing my view on that.

I love and am a sucker for grim-dark scifi but even I'm a little tired of it. Mostly because I'm lured into reading a book that matches that description and it turns out it's terrible but partly because I would also like some variety. I am not completely averse to hopeful scifi or fantasy, in fact at this point in time it'd be a nice change.
