(Anonymous) 2020-01-26 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)It does seem to be. I'm not the secret maker, but my issue with the DW fandom is the fans who ruin it for other people and try to force their opinion on everyone. If someone just doesn't like the stuff now, that's cool. But it seems like a very loud portion of the fandom feels the need to ruin it for those of us who do like the current era.

It's EXHAUSTING seeing comments underneath posts on the Doctor Who Facebook page (for example) from people who hate the show so much but apparently not enough to just leave the group or ask Facebook not to show as many updates if they truly can't bring themselves to just delete their membership of the page. It's a bit like...life is too short, have you not got anything better to be doing and talking about?

(Anonymous) 2020-01-26 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)I wish there would be separate groups for different kinds of engagements. But as annoying as it gets at times, I do like that there is a bit of that element in Doctor Who fandom sometimes, that sort of passionate, uncompromising engagement and commitment to nerdery, the little bit of Lawrence Miles in all of us. You have to keep it in proportion though.

You're right about the passion not necessarily being a bad thing but I get why the people who are currently happy might be bummed out if they can't have a positive conversation without being confronted by what feels like a wall of capslock.
