I went to the doctor for the flu, and it turned out that I have high blood pressure and have had it for some time, so I got a prescription for meds to treat it (also an EKG which I've never had before). I'm glad it's being taken care of, as I rarely see a doctor. Currently watching the Simpsons.

Had a washing machine repair man here for most of the morning. Was at the office all afternoon. Stopped for Vietnamese food on the way home. Have a bit of a migraine, so I'm sitting in bed with the lights off, watching my kitty who is at the foot of my bed.

I'm trying to get some exercise done - I was sick for a while and couldn't move at more than a slow shuffle, and now I'm getting better but my energy levels are in the toilet :(
Luckily I have a treadmill, so I can walk for a bit, flop down in a heap, recover, and get up and walk some more.

...also processing the shock that I've lost weight in the last two weeks, despite being virtually bed bound.

Also dealing with my Mom's escalating certainty that she's the victim of a witch's curse. She had heart surgery back in December, and, while it was successful, there's been... complications. She got some fluid buildup which was super painful and, right before it got sucked out, collapsed her dang lung, and now we think jabbing her with a large gage fuck-off needle to get out the fluid caused a blood clot or something because instead of getting better, albeit with a collapsed lung, she can't move her shoulder.

Song Search

Someone on F!S recced me a song a few months ago. It’s a sad, slow, moody song with the lyric “If you’re angry still, just say it”.

It’s a great song, but I made the mistake of not making any sort of note for it, and now I can’t find it. Searching the lyrics doesn’t help. I think the band name was something really short. Like two letters maybe?

If you’re the person who recced it to me, could you please remind me what it’s called?

The Alpha Bitch and Lovable Alpha Bitch. I like when that archetype sincerely grows into a nice person, but if she stays mostly a bitch with "lovable" qualities then no thanks. (The male version applies too.)

In Japanese media, my least favorite is the tsundere whose default mode is dere. Default tsuns are hit or miss though.

i dislike to abjectly hate any Bad Boy character type, especially if they're portrayed as 'romantic' or 'heroic' they're just douches, it's literally that deep.

Anti-Heroes I can find a bit grating too but I think that's all down to the writer, not the archetype itself.

similarly to no.1 I also can rarely stand the Jerk With A Heart Of Gold because again: they're just dicks.

all of other archetypes are 100% down to the writer, a good writer can make me love an archetype and a bad writer can make me dislike the exact same one.

I LOVE lovable rogue. I also like the McCoy.

Not a fan of the Pessimist or Audience Surrogate.

Villains who love what they do and take pleasure in it. Bad boy villains I guess, but in scifi and fantasy settings mostly. Over the top, dramatic, takes over the screen every time they are on it. Dark Lords, but not all of them. Not the angsty ones. The enthusiastic ones.

All loving hero. Chosen Ones. Really just heroic characters in general.

Boss who isn't the literal boss (is this a thing?, I think it is). Basically, characters who aren't actually the one in charge but act like it anyway. Who want and need to be in control of every situation. In a villain setting, the second in command who runs the show.

Corrupter characters, but only when they are villains/full on evil.

Action girl. Always.

Herald characters like Obi-Wan and Gandalf.

Mad scientists, especially as villains.

The McCoy.

Mentors.

Psychopaths and sociopaths, but only in scifi and fantasy. I need that fantastical element, I'm not into realistic psychopaths.

Seekers.

Superheroes and supervillains of course.

Tomboys.

Tragic heroes.

Least favorite are any black-and-white archetypes, e.g. All-Loving Hero, Dark Lord, Good King, Superhero, Supervillain.

Favorites are the types who could go either way, e.g. Anti-Hero, Lovable Rogue, Gentleman Thief, Trickster, Rebel, etc.

Least are the hot quaint geeky girls often wearing glasses, military guys who are by the book, rebelous teens that don't aprove of their parent's new partner and are always angry

Faves: heroes with dark pasts, naive wide eyed charaters that are not stupid, crafty shady characters with secret plans
