I've only just watched the first episode, but I do think they're improving some. It's not great but so far it seems the writers are getting more comfortable with the characters. I was spoiled about the Master being in it, but his reveal was still pretty good, imo.

The actor who's playing him is GREAT, don't get me wrong, and if he'd come directly after Simm!Master I'd have no hesitations whatsoever, but the thing is--Missy had SUCH a good arc, and where she was at the end of her final appearance was SO interesting to me, and I'm worried that she's just...not going to be a part of the Master going forward, given what we've seen so far. I can see the previous Doctors in Thirteen, of course, but a hard reset on the Master after their last interactions seems...unfair.

It's improving for sure but I think there's a huge amount of trust for Chibnall to win back and I dunno if he can do it.
