New media you're into

Watcha watching/reading/playing, F!S?

I'm watching The Case Files of Jeweler Richard

A Netflix show called "Thieves of the Wood" (at least I think that's the English title). It's a Belgian(?) show about a Robin Hood type of outlaw (although it's a more than flattering version of the historical figure). I liked it more than I expected but am sad that it probably won't get any fandom.

Just finished S2 of Sex Education. It was pretty good, probably on par with S1 I'd say. The embarrassment factor was a little off-the-charts for me in places, but that kind of goes with the territory.

Just watched the first two episodes of Witcher. I am very meh on it so far. I don't think it's for me. Might give it a couple more episodes though.

I'm also about six episodes into The Magicians. It's...really not great, but at least it's trying to be a little ambitious and interesting? I'd probably quit watching if it didn't have five seasons, but the fact that it's made it that far makes me more inclined to give it more of a chance. Also, I really like Eliot.

Eliot is a delight 80% of the time.

I liked The Witcher okay while I was watching it but what sticks with me as it marinades in my brain is just all the flaws. The source material is good, so are the casting and overall look of the show, but I watch too much Dan Olsen & Co. not to notice bad writing and spend too much time on Tumblr not to notice pRoBlEmAtIc content.

Started watching Next in Fashion and I think it has much room for improvement. I think the moderators should not be included in the judging and I think the judges should not know who designed what until after judging, just to prevent obvious favouritism.

I just watched the whole season. It was really cute, and fun, but i really hate the 'you only have one hour to do this thing that takes weeks!!' aspect of all those shows. Being able to do something super-super fast isn't normally like - a goal.
(It especially makes no sense on cooking shows, but maybe it's just me....)

I enjoyed it. I would not wear a single thing they all designed, heh, but it was fun to see how they all came to their designs, fabric decisions, etc. Plus - Tan is so easy on the eyes.....

I binged watched this and couldn't agree more.

Like, it's a show meant for binge watching (not subtle about it) and for people who really enjoy watching the design process. I'm a designer myself by schooling. None of the challenges I found inspiring at all.

Too many leading questions. Too many stylists being "I'd put this on my client" so bland fashion winning. The lack of mentorship but them going "you've grown so much."

And the runway shows started to aggravate my migraine like 4 episodes in. They were going to give someone a seizure. I won't be rewatching, unlike PR where I've rewatched every episode twice thus far this season.

I also thought was kind of unfair how some of the people working in teams had known and worked together before, some of them for years, and some of them were thrown together despite not knowing each other AND wildly incompatible styles. That was not a level playing field.

Also, the way the "fabric room" was put together was all style and no practicality and substance.

Yeah, the flashing lights were pretty ridiculous. Migraines are one thing (that was an issue for me as well) but that show needed a serious epilepsy warning.

And really, I would have liked to see a more neutral judging. Sure, tastes differ, but I really, genuinely want to know if Kerby Jean-Raymond would have flipped out like that if he hadn't known who the designers behind those frilly denim monstrosities were and whether some of the designers would have won if their hadn't been obvious sympathies involved.

I just finished the first 5 seasons of Schitt's Creek. I should have waited until the whole show was done. Now I am jonesing for new episodes. Wish the fandom was more active! But it is a sitcom so I know I have to lower my expectations.

Hey, I just started a re-watch! I'm done with season 2. God, I adore this show.

Roland is hard to watch during the first season but he becomes more palatable. And I realized that Bob is very similar to Johnny Rose. It's fun to see Johnny interact with (and often get bested by) Bob because Johnny gets a taste of his own medicine.

My favorite relationship with the non main characters is Ronnie and Patrick. I love how much she hates his face.

Patrick hasn't shown up yet, but I'm eagerly awaiting his arrival.
Do you have a favourite among the main cast?

David. Mostly because over the course of the five seasons he has changed the most for the better. Johnny is probably my second favorite because I liked him since the first season. He just tries so hard.

For character development I'll have to take a rain check, I don't remember enough nuances to comment on seasons 3-5. For now I like Alexis, because she's nice and positive.

What kind of fandom content to you want to see? Fics?

Watched the first episode of Incorporated, and it seems kind of cool. We'll see if it keeps my interest. Also Avenue 5 is great.

God I love that book. I'm looking forward to Harrow the Ninth so bad. I've heard it's supposed to be very different stylistically for a number of reasons, including starring Harrowhark, but I am all in on a fun author who's not a one-trick pony. Bring it, Muir!

I'm looking forward to it a lot, it's going to fuck me up and I can't wait

I want to read that so bad. The preview intrigued me.

Wrapped up Good Place and Witcher. Started Kipo and Picard. Just about everything else is on hiatus.
