(Anonymous) 2020-02-03 05:21 am (UTC)(link)I keep coming across all these "if you didn't think it was the most brilliant thing ever then obviously it was too high minded for you and you're just a moron who's too stupid to understand it" yet those are the same people who are like "suicide?! where did you ever get the idea that it has anything in common with suicide?!". And it's like...you can't grasp the VERY OBVIOUS suicide parallels and you're going around calling OTHER people idiots? Ok then.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-03 05:56 am (UTC)(link)Seriously! I'm an atheist and don't believe there is an afterlife, but I WISH there was one. The idea of being able to hang out with everyone I love forever, none of us having to deal with any stress or anxiety or work or bills or getting sick or health insurance, getting to see anything and everything and we ever wanted in the entire world, for me being able to read all the books I've ever wanted but didn't have the time for, getting to find out all the mysteries of the universe, being able to eat all the delicious foods without gaining weight, getting to learn whatever hobby you've ever been vaguely interested in but didn't have the time or money for...I can't imagine why anyone would ever willingly give that up.
I've been accused of having "too much of an imagination" (by someone who clearly didn't have enough of one, fucking asshole ex-boyfriend), but I seriously can't imagine getting bored when I could literally do anything I could ever possibly imagine. And if for some reason I did get tired of it, I feel like I'd want to do something like Tahani, or come up with some other possibility of something new to do. The idea of intentionally choosing nothingness when anything and everything is possible is just mind boggling to me.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-03 08:16 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, I don't get it either. I saw one comment that said something along the lines of "it wasn't suicide because people commit suicide when they're miserable, and the characters weren't miserable, they were just bored", like...???? What??? Suicide is suicide, regardless of the reasoning or intentions behind it.
