A lot of the dancing in K-pop is pretty good, imo, or at least no different than anything else you'll find in the music industry. Calling it all soulless and whatnot is a pretty unfairly generally speaking. I can get why you'd get annoyed at seeing it under every tag though.

I think it very much shows in some cases that the groups are under much more pressure to perform perfectly - together with the sheer number of performances they have and the immense scrutiny those people are under... it's very much a different situation than with other groups and imo, it shows.
And the dancing is good. Never doubted it. I still think it's soulless. These two things are not mutually exclusive.

I'm not sure why being technically proficient at complicated choreography means that the dancing is automatically soulless? I'm not shitposting, I'm honestly curious. Can you show some examples of dancing you feel is soulless vs. choreographed performances that you don't find to be soulless? Or is it just that the practice of having choreography included in a performance makes it read as soulless to you?

^^^ seconded, because I have the same questions.

I just ... report the tweets.

"The tags seem unrelated" or "Using the reply function to spam" are my favourite weapons against the k-pop stancam menace.

What's a fancam?

(Anonymous) 2020-02-08 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
Fan taken videos, usually at concerts, etc.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-08 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Why do they tend to be creepy? (I get why they would be annoying showing up everywhere in every topic!)

OP
It's usually fanrecordings focused on the group member the filming person likes the most and they can be kind of creepy the way they follow a person's every move and they can come across as super voyeuristic/fetishising depending on how they're filmed.

the performance videos aren't that creepy imo. it gets weird when you see the fancams of them out and about (usually at airports or on the way to or in the audience at events) that go in slow mo and repeat the few seconds the videographer was able to snag over and over and over

Late, but...

Hey, I'm a k-pop fan and I can't stand Twitter stans. They're putting me right off the groups (Twice, Mamamoo, BTS and LOONA to be precise) and most other fans think they're idiots too.
