New Media you Didn't Like

What New Media did you try and Not like? Doesn't have to actually be new, just that you tried recently.

"The End of the Fucking World". It takes a lot to get me to enjoy shows with teenage characters. IDK why, I guess I don't like things that remind me of those years in my own life.

I've tried a few times to watch Nailed It! because the concept is funny, but it's too...loud? And gameshow like? I don't really enjoy the format of the show and there's no help for that.

I hate it because the contestants are actually set up to fail. Even a trained professional couldn't do what they're supposed to do in this short time (from a basic technical standpoint). I know that's the point of the show to watch the people fail miserably, but if there isn't even a trace of a chance to succeed, it's just boring.

Ugh. that sounds genuinely awful.

It's not because the entire point is to just... Have fun and try your best without worrying about the perfection that comes from a Super Serious baking competition tbh. I've yet to see a contestant not have fun just bullshitting their way and trying to even though they're definitely gonna fail. I see a lot of the complaints like, "But they can never make it perfect!"

But that's the point. You're not supposed to. You're supposed to have fun and try to just do your best. They're watching it like one would watch GBBO, which isn't... How you're supposed to do it. It's like watching Chopped and expecting to be on a How To show that's all about healthy recipes and how to seriously make them.

Seconding this so hard! They take total novices, give them very difficult projects that they've never made before, and a time limit that is barely doable for the very best baker. It makes the whole thing meaningless. It's basically just random kitchen-related chaos at that point.

The main issue is how everything looks super ugly in the end ... but it wouldn't look much better if a professional made it because frosting and building up structures etc. can not work without sufficiently cooling down baked goods first and the time is much too short for that. Things will inevitably break apart and turn into a soggy mess when decorated/moved while still too warm.

The point is to not stress it and get as close as possible, tho, not actually get it right. It's why the contestants don't sweat actually fully mimicking it and can just say fuck it as opposed to GBBO where if they did that they'd be disqualified that week. And TBH I appreciate on that's just there to be fun for once and not Super Serious.

The Witcher. Jaskier was my favorite and really the only character I gave a shit about. Well, him and Roach.

I sort of felt that way, too.I liked Witcher overall and did find Geralt compelling, but Jaskier was the only character I actually liked and it was hard to watch him go so out of his way to support Geralt only to be kicked away.

I was also super annoyed by Yennefer for a lot of the show. First off, did she enchant those people to have orgies? That is the vibe I was getting. Secondly, just adopt a fucking baby. You don't need to kill people to get a baby. This is medieval times near a war, you can just find babies. Or buy one. Whatever.

Brain Games. I liked the earlier episode that was "demonstrations to random people on the street," but the game show format isn't working for me. (Primarily because I gnash my teeth every time they bring out the "mentalist.")

Well, it's not new now, but when it was new, I really hated Girls. I just really disliked pretty much every single character on the show, found almost all the sex scenes extremely off-putting, and found the plots painfully mundane (which can work in some cases, but I'd have to actually like the characters to want to watch a show about their shitty, mundane doings).

Same. It probably didn't help that I jumped into the middle(?) of the series for Andrew Rannells thinking he was an one off character, but while I managed an episode or two for him, I just couldn't convince myself to keep watching, even for him...

Lego Masters. I'm active in the AFOL community and have friends on the show but it's so obnoxious. And every team had a little introduction in the show except the gay couple. Their interview was cut from the episode and posted on social media instead and they're hardly in the first (and so far only) episode.

The Good Place.

Technically I liked it for most of it's run, but the ending hit such a sour note for me that it left a bad taste for the series as a whole. I'll probably get over it eventually, but for now I'm going to stay away from it.
