Are you old enough to remember pre-prequels OP? I'm only asking because I was 13 with a few years of Star Wars watching under my belt. when TPM was released and ever since then I've had trouble seeing Anakin and Vader as the same character. But it's not because of the annoying kid/angsty adult angle. It's just that the prequels didn't really sell the transformation to me and I think, despite the fact you can handwave it with the mechanical argument, the voice and general way of phrasing things is just SO different. I think my brain just can't accept it.
