107. Um, I think you really should assess your definition of what a bitch is. I certainly hope you're not using this as an excuse to make yourself feel better about... however your personality and actions are. Because honestly, you shouldn't feel that good about being a bitch. You might get things done, but what's the point if people really don't like you in the process? :|

And honestly, I don't feel that Nami is a bitch. She can be a bit self-involved and let vanity get the best of her, but it doesn't completely dominate her personality.

124. Don't be! I cannot agree with you more! I am a pretty big yaoi fangirl, but I just cannot ever seem to enjoy series that blatantly provide us that 'yaoi fangirl fix'. It just seems so... tacky and blatantly manufactured and watered down. I don't like Loveless (actually, this is pretty much the -only- series I can say that I might just... hate.), I don't like Junjou Romantica, I don't like Gravitation all that much. There's lots of series out there that are purely for yaoi fangirls that just are not my cup of tea. I think the only exceptions I can make are Antique Bakery (which, in my opinion, doesn't really blatantly appeal to the yaoi fangirl audience. It's just kind of an added bonus in my eyes.), Genshiken (Ogiue's little trip to slash land. I adore that part of the series way too much), and a few titles from June. Other than that, please stop trying to give me this tripe. I always feel like they're trying way too hard. :|

I will never understand slash fandom fully. It isn't pandering to you--that's just the genre...I am really confused...

Hm, I guess I should have worded that a little differently. Let me try to explain myself a little more.

I am a fan of the genre, that I won't doubt. However I am more of a fan of the 'slash' aspect (pairing two guys together) of it then of series that are based solely on the 'yaoi' aspect (a series that already has the paired up boys and fanservice and innuendo all meant for yaoi fangirls). In other words, I would far more enjoy seing a regular series with no blatant yaoi fodder, then a show whose only real purpose is to provide that fodder. It just doesn't leave very much to the imagination on my part. The storylines tend to be very uninteresting and the relationships are over or under played. There's usually the very typical 'stereotypical top' and 'stereotypical bottom'.

I'd much rather first enjoy a little action, drama, suspense, and comedy in whatever series I watch, then go on to see what my ships are, then to already have those ships there and have all the romance, then move on to those other genre types (action, drama, comedy, etc.)

I was a little confused though...but now it makes sense! I am a slash fan a bit too...but I don't like yaoi all that much...hehehe. Mostly because I am more interested in the fluffy type stuff...

Also, it's sad how much my icon is related to this discussion, at least for me >__

No, it's okay. I always forget about the whole 'yaoi is not just pairing guys together, but it's an actual genre!' thing. Actually, all the little genres involving it (Boy's Love, Shonen-ai, etc) always confuse me a little. Slash is definitely more my thing though. :]

The more I read, the more I feel like maybe there is just a schism in yaoi fangirls...some of us like series where the focus is on male/male romance, and some of us like fandom yaoi, where the focus is on male/male romance we created out of nothing.

It is. I think I would have prefered for the secret to have been worded as "Nami makes me feel good about being a very strong, hands-on and forward-thinking woman.", or something along those lines, but that's probably just me. Just... bitch usually gets a negative connotation to it.
