101. My best friend is struggling with this right now. It's shitty and truthfully there's no way completely around it beyond "cosplay a dark skinned character," but for what it's worth I think you should just go as whoever you damn well please (and take a big sign with you inviting those who have a problem with it to go fuck themselves).

fandomsecrets is not for the faint of heart, sweetpea. We all come here to be opinionated and overzealous (and that applies as much to squeeing as it does to bashing, oftentimes). Responding to the secrets is often just as cathartic as writing them, so you can expect fiery responses that people have just been dying to get out.

125. Avatar is Aang and Zuko's story. Technically, Zuko is kind of the main protagonist. That's why the big showdowns in the finale are his and Aang's. I also can't help but assume that the batshit Aang fangirls are being reactionary to the batshit Zuko fangirls, who popped onto the scene first and started denigrating Aang for being a wuss, a little kid, and, um, bald. There's tension between Aang and Zuko fans as much as there is tension between Kataang and Zutara fans.

141. Eh. They do reviews and can alert you to new games you might like and I respect the guys. I agree that they're not always funny, but they established a genre that's been much-emulated and I think it says a lot about them that rather than pumping up their internet egos, they've put their popularity and money towards good causes like Childsplay. I know that's technically irrelevent to the quality of the comic, but...

ATTENTION TWILIGHT HATERS: It's a book. Chill. Sure, it's not good, but I really doubt that all of us have refrained from liking something that kind of sucked for our whole lives.

Of course, it's the Zuko fangirls fault. You know, it is possible for Aang fans to be batshit all on their own. Just like it's possible for canon shippers to be batshit all on their own. They don't have to be reacting to anything.

My experience in other fandoms has played this out well. Batshit is batshit, you don't need to make excuses for them or Kataang anytime some one mentions them.

I don't think it's reactionary. We were all late to Avatar, and pretty much kept to ourselves. They aren't really what you'd call typical fandom people. Until recently, neither was I, but I'm branching out!

I think they just fed off each other, which is something I am seeing quite often as I spread out into other fandoms.

HP seems to be very guilty of this, I haven't found a reasonable place to settle down in yet. I've already struck off fiction ally forums and a few LJ comms. Lol.

Ironically enough, since I wrote that I've had several secrets flamed XD And I have to say, when I saw the flames, I laughed for minutes on end, and felt strangely relieved. Like, happy it was out of my system, even though it pissed people off.
