I'd go for it. I mean, if the criteria is having to look just like the person you're cosplaying...no one would do it. I'm a female and planning on cosplaying a couple of male characters, which worries me a bit, but I'm still gonna go for it.

As for having cosplaying friends...depending on the fandom, maybe you can find an lj comm for cosplayers? Probably worth a try if you really want to have someone to share it with.

I think if I ever get the courage to cosplay, I'll definitely be tempted to cosplay a guy after I try cosplaying a girl. There are a lot of brilliant character designs out there.

Hmm. I never really thought of looking for a community on LJ. *feels dumb* I guess another factor is me doubting that there is anyone at the small little HBCU I go to who cosplays.

Sounds pretty sweet. Trying different types of characters can certainly be interesting.

Yeah, if nothing else, there are some general cosplay comms, which I don't know if that would be something like you're looking for or not, but at least it might give you an idea of who's out there and what they're doing. Having no one else around you that cosplays is kind of rough. But, well, maybe you doing it could get other people into it?
